- 70m channel had been dug from the estuary but had not made it to the sea.

-Looked to be done using some kind of machinery.

-Unable to take berm height measurements due to thick fog.

-There were signs that recent high tides have overtopped the berm. 

11 Oct 2024 Approved Notes:

Red Capped Plover, Red Necked Stint, White-faced Heron, Royal Spoonbill, Great Egret, White Fronted Chat and Hoary Headed Grebe spotted. 

28 Aug 2024 Approved Notes:

Height above sea wasn't measured due to extreme weather on the day.   Hooded Plovers, Red Capped Plovers, Red Necked Stint observed on the day.

Noted efforts have been made to artifically open the estuary (see attached photo)

A 122.3m long channel had been dug from the estuary water's edge towards the ocean.  The channel was approximately 0.6m wide. Photos of the channel are attached to data entry.

Noted red discolouration in water at edge of river towards ocean. thought this may be acid sulphate however we did some pH testing which was consistant with the rest of the river.
